Golf Performance & Injury Prevention
(TPI-Certified)

Golf is part of life at The Landings.

Whether you're playing regularly across all six courses or working your way back after time away, the way your body moves matters just as much as your swing mechanics.

Coastal Care Physical Therapy offers golf-focused evaluation and treatment led by a Titleist Performance Institute (TPI)–certified therapist. Our approach is designed to reduce pain, address physical limitations that impact performance, and help you return to the course stronger and more resilient.

Coastal Care Partners' lead therapist, Clint Crawley, PT, DPT, OCS, is TPI-certified to evaluate movement patterns, identify limitations that affect your swing, and develop a personalized plan to improve performance and reduce injury risk.

What Makes Golf-Specific Physical Therapy Different?

Traditional physical therapy focuses on resolving pain and restoring function.

TPI-informed therapy goes a step further. It evaluates how mobility, strength, stability, and movement patterns directly influence your golf swing and the stress placed on your joints over time.

Our goal is not only to help you feel better — but to help your body move more efficiently so you can play longer with less risk of recurring injury.

What Your Evaluation Includes

Your first visit includes a comprehensive, one-on-one evaluation tailored specifically to golfers.

We assess:

  • Hip mobility and rotation capacity
  • Thoracic spine mobility (mid-back rotation)
  • Shoulder mobility and stability
  • Core strength and pelvic control
  • Balance and weight transfer patterns
  • Movement symmetry and compensation patterns
  • Areas of stiffness or instability that may contribute to swing breakdown

We also review your medical history, previous injuries, and current golf activity level to fully understand your goals and limitations.

Common Golf-Related Issues We Treat

  • Low back pain during or after rounds
  • Hip stiffness or pain limiting rotation
  • Shoulder pain affecting backswing or follow-through
  • Elbow pain (golfer's elbow or lateral elbow pain)
  • Wrist pain
  • Neck tension
  • Balance deficits affecting consistency
  • Recurrent strains or overuse injuries

Even if pain is mild, addressing movement limitations early can prevent progression and allow you to continue playing comfortably.

Your Personalized Plan of Care

Based on your evaluation, we develop a customized treatment plan that may include:

  • Manual therapy to restore joint mobility and reduce soft tissue restriction
  • Targeted corrective exercise programming
  • Core stabilization and rotational strength training
  • Balance and weight-shift training
  • Gradual return-to-play progression
  • Education on warm-up strategies and recovery routines

You will leave each session with a clear understanding of your progress and what to work on between visits.

Why TPI Certification Matters

Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) medical certification focuses on understanding how physical limitations influence the golf swing and how injuries develop through compensatory patterns.

A TPI-certified clinician is trained to connect:

  • How your body moves
  • How your swing loads your joints
  • Which physical limitations increase injury risk
  • What interventions will most effectively improve performance

This integration allows us to treat both the symptom and the underlying cause.

Who This Is For

This program is ideal for:

  • Landings members playing regularly
  • Golfers recovering from injury
  • Post-surgical patients returning to play
  • Players experiencing recurring stiffness or fatigue
  • Golfers who want to improve mobility and longevity

Whether your goal is competitive play or simply enjoying time on the course without pain, we tailor care to your individual needs.
